North Haledon built most of its homes between 1950 and 1980. Ranches and split-levels fill Berdan Avenue and Barbour Street on hillside lots with visible side walls. Morrissee Avenue blocks and streets near the Haledon border added larger colonials through the early 1980s with more wall height and more trim to plan.

A lot of what is on those walls now went up when the house changed hands years ago. Panels still stand but the color is gone, joints have opened, and it looks tired from the street. When we open a wall at the estimate, we find what the last crew left: skipped flashing, thin wrap, sometimes original wood that was never meant to stay hidden this long. High Mountain ridge lots see more wind and rain exposure than streets closer to Route 23.

Today's vinyl and fiber cement look nothing like what went up in the 1980s and 90s. Better panels, real accessories, and sealed openings at every window and door. Most ranches and split-levels here take a 4-inch or 4.5-inch insulated lap. We seal every opening before panels go on so homeowners notice fewer drafts inside before they notice anything outside.
