Alexander Kasser Theater

The Alexander Kasser Theater is part of Montclair State University’s College of Arts. It was inaugurated in 2004 with the legendary dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov as its first performance. The theater has since hosted more than 170 productions, including 34 world premieres. Among the many other highlights of this venue are a variety of special events. It is handicapped-accessible and often attracts tourists from around the world. PEAK Performances’ main aim is to expand the cultural and educational impact of Montclair State University.

The Richard Alston Dance Company’s New Adventures of Old David re-creates his 1978 piece “What Happened” in a new work. The choreographer is joined by celebrated pianist Jason Ridgway and rising star tenor Nicholas Phan. The American Contemporary Music Ensemble will also be featured. The film is a touching tribute to Setterfield and proof of Gordon’s evolving artistry.

The Alexander Kasser Theater Montclair NJ was designed as a venue to showcase student talent. It was named after the founder of the Kasser Art Foundation, Alexander Kasser, a renowned theatre developer who founded the theatre. The theatre seats 500 people and features a peak performance series of cultural events. Former executive director Jedediah Wheeler led the Arts and Cultural programming of the theater. Another highlight is a French circus company. Known as COMPAGNIE LIBERTIVORE, this production is the company’s U.S. premiere. The language of dance and circus movement highlights the physical potential of the acrobatic body and evokes a slow metamorphosis of organic matter and human bodies. In the show, performers confront the world and merge with it, creating an awe-inspiring show.

The Alexander Kasser Theater Montclair NJ is located on the campus of Montclair State University. You will need to use your GPS to find the campus, but if you don’t know where it is, you can enter 1 Normal Avenue in Montclair, NJ. Then, take a left on Normal Ave. and you will be at the Kasser Theater. If you’ve come this far, you’ll be glad you came.
