Thomas Edison National Historic Park
While you’re visiting New Jersey, you can’t miss a visit to the Thomas Edison National Historic Park. It is located at 211 Main St, West Orange, NJ 07052.You’ll be able to see some of the inventor’s inventions, as well as visit his home and estate. From Newark, take I-280 west to Montclair/S Orange/West Orange. Head west on Hill Street to Broad Street. Stay straight, and then take a right on Washington St. This will turn into W Market Street. Turn right on 1st Street. The park will be on the left. From there, head toward the museum on Main St/County Highway-659. Located near the museum, this park is filled with art.

The National Park will reopen its Visitor Center soon. This will feature a park orientation film. The Museum also houses a gift shop and other exhibits. The Main Laboratory Building contains Thomas Edison’s library, machine shops, music room, and other exhibits. It also houses the Glenmont Greenhouse, which is maintained by the Short Hills Garden Club and park volunteers. A visit to the park is a great way to learn more about Edison’s life and the world that surrounded him.
If you’re looking for something a little different, the National Air and Space Museum is a fun and outrageous place to visit in New Jersey. The facility resembles a cross between a museum and a farm. Visitors can even see antique farming equipment in operation. In fact, the museum’s operations are run by antiquated farm equipment. The museum’s staff are knowledgeable about both aviation and history.
The museum is also home to the Battleship New Jersey. Located in the Delaware River, this historic ship is a unique experience to enjoy. Climbing ladders and traversing tricky passageways is part of the adventure. It’s also a great place for a picnic, and is a great location for taking pictures. Start out going northwest on Rooney Cir toward Executive Dr. Take the 1st left to stay on Rooney Cir. Turn right onto Marion Dr. Don’t pass Prospect Ave. Turn right onto Mount Pleasant Ave/NJ-10. Turn slight left onto Pleasant Valley Way/County Hwy-636. To Pleasant Valley Way a little pass Mount Pleasant Pl. Starlite Restaurant and Pizzeria is on the corner.
