Pompton Junction
Pompton Junction is a neighborhood in the town of Pompton Lakes, New Jersey. The community is also near the village of Riverdale. Located in Passaic County, it is home to many retirees and active families.
Although Pompton Junction may not be the fanciest of neighborhoods, the city has a number of unique features that make it an excellent place to call home. For starters, it has one of the highest percentages of Italian ancestry in the United States. Another fact that makes it a great place to buy a home is its low housing supply.
Pompton Junction is home to several landmarks. Among them is the Train Station. This one-story, rubble stone building has a hipped green tile roof and a dentilled wood cornice. Currently, the station is a bus stop, but once upon a time it was a train depot.
Moreover, Pompton Junction has more Armenian ancestry people than any other neighborhood in America. A small percentage of the community is also Asian, with the most common identifying characteristics being Korean and Japanese.
In addition to a variety of other amenities, the town also has some nice campgrounds. These campgrounds can offer plenty of fun activities. You can even book a camping spot that comes with staff and amenities.
The neighborhood also boasts a high rate of walkability. It is not uncommon for residents to ride their bikes to work. Biking to work can help cut down on a carbon footprint, especially in cities like this. And while the neighborhood is not known for its cosmopolitan atmosphere, it does have several ethnically diverse residents.
Other notable sights include the Pompton Lakes train depot, which was built in 1871. Fortunately, the station is still in use. Until 1966, this railroad terminal served as a commuter station for residents of the surrounding area. But when that service ended, the station was converted into a commercial property.
If you are looking to buy a home in Pompton Junction, you can find a wide variety of houses to choose from. Many homes in the community are owned by senior citizens and college-educated individuals. However, the housing market isn’t as wide open as you might think. As such, the average price for a new home in Pompton Junction is slightly higher than the national average. Great article
Pompton Junction also has a surprisingly low real estate vacancy rate. This isn’t surprising, considering that it’s a relatively small neighborhood. However, the 0% vacancy rate indicates that there is a strong demand for real estate in the area. When this demand is met, prices rise. Luckily, this is also one of the few neighborhoods in New Jersey with a relatively affordable median real estate price.
Although the train station isn’t exactly a landmark, it does have a nice hipped green tile roof and concrete lintels. It also has windows with a dentilled wood cornice and a nice curved door.
Considering all of these factors, it’s no surprise that Pompton Junction is a great place to call home. Whether you’re looking for a vacation home, a retirement home, or a place to live for the long haul, the neighborhood is a good choice. Contact us
